Philip Kinney
Philip Kinney was born in Portland, Maine on December 18, 1970. In 1973, his parents moved to Westbrook, Maine, where Philip attended public school from kindergarten through high school. His father, worked in the public works department for the city, and his mother worked at a local bank. In 1992, Philip enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following boot camp in Orlando, he was sent to Fort Devins, Massachusetts and then to Naval Air Station, Pensacola for training in cryptology. He then served aboard the destroyer USS John Rogers (DD 983) which was based in Charleston, South Carolina. While on the destroyer, the ship completed major deployments to South America, the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean. During those deployments, Philip visited 26 countries, became a certified Shellback by crossing the equator, and earned the surface warfare qualification. In 1995, the ship was reassigned to Mayport Naval Station, Florida.
Philip has called Jacksonville his home ever since.In 1996, after four years of service, Philip received an honorable discharge. His first job after his enlistment was driving a garbage truck for B.F.I. in Jacksonville. He did this while attending classes full-time at Florida Community College of Jacksonville, taking classes in the evenings and weekends. In 1998, Philip Kinney received his Associate of Arts degree from FCCJ and then transferred to the University of North Florida. In 1999, he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. In December 2003, Philip graduated from the University of Florida College of Law. He took the Florida Bar exam in February 2004 and passed on the first attempt.
Following graduation from law school, Philip returned to Jacksonville to begin his career as a civil litigator. He trained as an associate attorney with an eye toward one day hanging his own shingle. In 2008, the dream became a reality. Initially, he started as a solo practitioner. In 2010, he joined with former co-worker, Molly Lewis Sasso, to form the law firm of Kinney & Sasso. Molly concentrates her practice on family law matters, while Philip concentrates his practice on helping people that have been injured. Typical cases include auto accidents and trucking accidents. He is also well versed in workplace accidents, medical malpractice, dental malpractice, trip and falls, injuries from defective products and dog bites.
Benjamin Moore
Ben is a personal injury trial lawyer with Kinney and Sasso representing individuals injured from car accidents, truck accidents, wrongful death, dog bites, negligent security, and trip and falls. Ben devotes 100% of his practice to representing plaintiffs in personal injury actions. Prior to this, Ben was an in-house defense trial lawyer for Nationwide Insurance Company for several years.Ben was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida and is the son of a retired Jacksonville Fire Rescue Chief. While in law school, Ben clerked for a property rights law firm. Thereafter, Ben was an associate and shareholder with local law firms and gained a wide array of experience in complex civil litigation while representing Fortune 500 companies, small and large businesses, real estate developers, and individuals in personal injury actions. Ben also practiced in the areas of employment discrimination, insurance defense and professional liability litigation. Ben devotes 100 % of his practice as a trial lawyer to representing the injured.
Ben serves as the chairman of the Board of Directors for the International Learning Center of Jacksonville, a non-profit organization which assists refugees from all over the world as they transition into the United States through Jacksonville. He also provides pro bono services to Word Relief’s Jacksonville office. When he is not working, Ben first and foremost enjoys spending time with his amazing wife and three beautiful children. He is a member of Creekside Christian Church in St. Johns, Florida.
